Miley says she was afraid to join the 27 Club

Miley Cyrus, who turned 28 this Monday, confessed that she decided to give up alcohol and drugs last year because she was afraid to join the famous "27 Club", made up of great artists who died at the age of 27 - Kurt Cobain, Janis Joplin, Amy Winehouse, Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison.

“27 to me was a year that I really had to protect myself,” she told Apple Music’s New Music Daily. “That actually really made me want to get sober because we’ve lost so many icons at 27. It’s a very pivotal time.”

Cyrus adds, however, that it was not easy to stay sober.

“I would never sit here and go, ‘I’ve been fucking sober’… I fell off and I realized that I now am back on sobriety, two weeks sober, and I feel like I really accepted that time. One of the things I’ve used is, ‘Don’t get furious, get curious’. So don’t be mad at yourself, but ask yourself, ‘What happened?’

“To me, it was a fuck up because I’m not a moderation person, and I don’t think that everyone has to be fucking sober. I think everyone has to do what is best for them. I don’t have a problem with drinking. I have a problem with the decisions I make once I go past that level of… I’ve just been wanting to wake up 100 per cent of the time.”

Miley Cyrus just announced she will release a Metallica covers album.

Miley Cyrus continues on her path to conquer the rock world, in such a way that she went so far as to record an entire album full of Metallica cover songs. The revelation was made in a conversation with Interview Magazine. Cyrus took the opportunity to explain that she is back in the studio to record an album with covers of the thrash metal icons.

“We’ve been working on a Metallica cover album and I’m here working on that. We’re so lucky to be able to continue to work on our art during all of this. At first, it felt uninspiring and now I’ve been totally ignited." she said.

Miley Cyrus has covered Metallica in the past (you can listen to it below). In 2019, she sang the ballad 'Nothing Else Matters' at the British festival Glastonbury.

Recently, the American singer gave voice to “Boys Don't Cry” by The Cure and “Zombie” by The Cranberries. Both versions were part of the performance for the online festival Save Our Stages, which aims to save music venues in the United States at risk of survival because of Covid-19.
