Tobias Forge from Ghost Revealed His Feelings On Metallica

Hello head bangerz, welcome to the club. Today we talk about Metallica, Ghost and their collaboration on The Blacklist.

Metallica is such a huge band that they have fans everywhere all over the world. Among those fans is Tobias Forge, a Swedish musician known for being the lead singer, master mind and creator of the band Ghost.

Considering the appreciation they have for the thrash metal legends, Ghost recorded their version of one of Metallica’s biggest hits, Enter Sandman. The cover is one of the tracks on "Blacklist", a tribute album released on September 10th.

Tobias spoke about his passion for the band led by James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich in an interview that will be published by Metal Hammer. Some excerpts from the conversation were posted on the magazine's website and from what you’ll hear next, the Ghost frontman has been fond of Metallica for a long time.

“My older brother was a Metallica fan , so they were always there for me when I was a kid. I actually had a Metal Hammer poster on the wall, it had the demon from 'Jump In The Fire' on it, but with a 'Master Of Puppets' era picture" Tobias said.

Ghost's mentor also talked about how proud he was to have toured with Metallica before. "I have moments when I've been on tour or working with them, where the older, slightly more blasé version of myself gets a tap on the shoulder from my younger self who says, 'This is so cool! '".

In another excerpt, Tobias also talked about the first Metallica song he heard. "Like most people, 'Enter Sandman' was the first Metallica thing I heard. As soon as it played on MTV or the radio, I just stopped: 'Here comes that song again.' It was unique and powerful."

“We’d been asked to play Enter Sandman when Metallica were at The Polar Prize a few years back,” Forge reveals, explaining the band’s choice of cover. “We said, ‘Can we choose which song?’ They said, ‘Well, you can choose, but we really want you to do Enter Sandman. If you’re going to open the show, we want you to play their biggest song.’ So when talk of this record came about, it made sense.”

From what you’ve seen, did you enjoy the performance? What did you think of The Blacklist? Let me know in the comments below. Thank you so much for watching and see you in the next video.
