Eric Clapton shared some pretty interesting words about the current state of the music industry…

Eric Clapton, one of the biggest icons in music, has been struggling with his health to do what he does best: to go on stage and play his legendary songs. But, besides that, he also isn’t happy with the current state of live music.

Even though he said in 2018 that he was going deaf and that playing the guitar “has been very difficult”, he has just announced that he’s playing three shows in London next year. On May 14, 17 and 18, 2021, fans from all over the world are expected to gather around the legendary Royal Albert Hall in the British city for what very possibly will be Clapton's only series of performances of the year.

Despite that, Eric Clapton has raised some concerns about the current state of the music industry and what will be left of it after the pandemic. Eric Clapton has publicly stated that he supports Van Morrison who previously released lockdown protest songs.

Now in an interview with “Irish News”, Eric said:

"It is deeply upsetting to see how few gigs are going ahead because of the lockdown restrictions. There are many of us who support Van and his endeavors to save live music, he is an inspiration.”

Eric continued: "We must stand up and be counted because we need to find a way out of this mess. The alternative is not worth thinking about. Live music might never recover."

Eric concluded by saying the following: “Now we need the government to ease restrictions further and instill confidence that venues are safe and enjoyable places to be for everyone”

What do you think about Eric Clapton’s words? Do you agree with him?
