Donald Trump Nominated For The 2021 Nobel Peace Prize
The President of the United States of America, Donald Trump, was nominated this Wednesday for the 2021 Nobel Peace Prize.
The appointment comes after the US president reached the agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, according to the British newspaper Daily Mail. Trump was named by Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian parliament, who praised the White House president for his efforts to resolve conflicts around the world.
“For his merit, I think he has done more trying to create peace between nations than most other Peace Prize nominees,” Tybring-Gjedde said to Fox News.
Furthermore, according to the Norwegian, Trump also played a vital role in changing dynamics between rival countries, such as India and Pakistan on behalf of Kashmir, in the dialogues and negotiations between South and North Korea and in the attempt to denuclearize the North Korea. This is not the first time the Norwegian has nominated Trump for the award. In 2018, he and another US parliamentarian nominated the U.S. president, who did not win the Nobel.
In 2020, there were 318 candidates for the Nobel Peace Prize.
