Ennio Morricone, The Genius Behind “The Ecstasy Of Gold”, Dies at 91

Italian composer Ennio Morricone - author of several cinema soundtracks including “La Cage aux Folles” (1978), “The Thing” (1982), “The Untouchables” (1987), Roman Polanski’s “Frantic” (1988), Giuseppe Tornatore’s “Cinema Paradiso” (1988), “In the Line of Fire” (1993) and Tarantino’s “The Hateful Eight” (2015) died on Sunday night in a clinic in Rome, where he had been hospitalized a few days ago following a fall in which his femur fractured, reported the ANSA agency, cited by Reuters. He was 91 years old.

In 2016, Ennio Morricone won his first Academy Award for his score for the movie “The Hateful Eight” - directed by Quentin Tarantino.

Last June, Ennio Morricone was distinguished with the Princess of Asturias Award for the Arts. Mr. Morricone added this award to a list of hundreds of awards and which include Golden Globes, Grammys and BAFTA.
